ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Hi, I’m April Subia—and I’m a mom.

“We thought we were ready… until reality gently showed us otherwise.”

And like most moms, I don’t think we were ever truly “ready” to become one. Or maybe we thought we were… until reality gently showed us otherwise.

“A slow beginning, a quiet faith”

After marriage, my husband and I intentionally slowed down. We enjoyed our life as a couple first, without rushing into parenthood. Our quiet belief was simple: “The Lord will bless us with a child at the right time.”

“And then, our answered prayer came”

And He did.

When our child came, we were beyond happy—and we still are. But what no one really prepares you for is this: motherhood is beautiful… but it is also exhausting in ways you cannot fully explain until you live it.

“The exhaustion no one talks about”

It is physical exhaustion. Mental exhaustion. Emotional exhaustion. And everything in between.

And yet, every single day, we show up.

We carry the invisible mental load that so many moms silently carry—the planning, the remembering, the deciding, the worrying—things that rarely get acknowledged, but are always there.

“The question that drained me every single day”

One of my biggest daily struggles was something so simple, yet so overwhelming:

“Ano ang kakainin namin ngayon?”

It sounds small. But when you’re already thinking about how to take care of your family, manage the household, and somehow still take care of yourself… that question becomes a daily source of pressure.

Nakakapraning pala.

Because it’s not just about food—it’s about deciding, planning, preparing, and making sure everything is healthy, affordable, and realistic for your energy level that day.

“Running on empty”

And honestly, I reached a point where I felt like I was constantly running on empty.

There was nothing left for me.

And as they say, you cannot pour from an empty cup.

“The breaking point where something had to change”

I knew I needed time for myself. I needed space to breathe again.

But even the thought of preparing meals—healthy, budget-friendly, and something my family would actually enjoy—was slowly draining me.

“When I thought cooking was the problem… but it wasn’t”

Then my aunt shared a few simple cooking tips with me. And yes, cooking became a bit easier.

But something still didn’t feel right.

That’s when I realized:

hindi pala sa pagluluto lang ang problema.

The real struggle was everything around it—the planning, the decision fatigue, the constant thinking, and the pressure to always “figure it out.”

“Saved recipes, but still stuck”

I would scroll through recipes online, save them with good intentions… and never actually use them.

And in the middle of all those saved posts and ideas, I’d still find myself staring into space—while my husband would just end up ordering takeout again.

"The corporate lesson I brought home."

Before becoming a full-time mom, I worked in the corporate world.

One thing I always admired was how every successful team had systems.

There were processes, checklists, and workflows that made everyday work smoother and more efficient. People didn't have to start from scratch every day because there was already a proven system to follow.

Then one day, it hit me.

If systems can make work easier… why can't they make home life easier, too?

Why was I relying on my memory, my mood, or whatever energy I had left just to answer the same question every single day?

"Ano ang uulamin namin ngayon?".

That's when I realized something important.

Our home didn't need more recipes.

It needed a system.

“The turning point: a simple notebook”

That realization changed everything.

One day, I took out a notebook and started writing everything down.

Not just recipes—but the entire process.

The patterns.

The decisions.

The stress points.

Everything I needed to consider just to answer one daily question:

"What's for dinner?"

“The honest question I had to ask myself”

And then I asked myself honestly:

Why am I making this so hard when there must be a simpler way?

“The system that changed everything”

Through that notebook, after plenty of trial and error—and yes, a few more moments of staring into space—I finally created a system that worked for my family.

A system that didn't just make cooking easier.

It made deciding easier.

Planning easier.

Grocery shopping easier.

Managing our food budget easier.

And most importantly...

It gave me back mental space.

Instead of wondering every day what to cook, I could spend that time being more present with my family—and with myself.

That's when I realized:

Every successful business runs on systems. I believe every busy home deserves one, too.

And that changed everything.

"A message from one mom to another."

Today, I share this system because I know I'm not the only mom who has felt this way—overwhelmed, tired, and constantly trying to figure out what's next for the family, especially when it comes to meals.

My hope is that what helped my family can help yours, too.

That instead of ending every day feeling stressed about what to cook, you'll have a simple system that gives you more clarity, more confidence, and more time for the people who matter most.

Because meal planning isn't just about food.

It's about giving yourself one less thing to worry about.

I'm so glad you're here.

You don't have to figure it all out alone.

With love,

April S.
